Boring and torturing writers

I consider writers according to two categories. 1) boring writers 2) writers who make me suffer , About the first category, there is not so much to say. The 98% is boring, pointless, battery-hens-writers. See my post about MICHEL HOUELLEBECQ . About the second category, I include those few writers who, when I read their novels, make me suffer, and I have to read them in instalments. I can read a half page or one page each time, a maximum of two pages, after that the sufferance becomes unbearable, overwhelming, but nonetheless, I return to their pages because that sufferance, in the end, makes me think and opens new unprecedented horizons in front of me. It is well known that scientia dolorem auget . The most typical example is J.M: Coetzee . For example his Disgrace or Slow Man . But the peak is Salvador Besnedra, El traductor. His writing is first of all irritating, hurting, excessive, and displacing...but he teaches new ways of writing, new ways of thinking, and new ways of mi...

The Dostoevsky's paradox

In a Godless world, without a future life - would it be then, that everything is permitted?  (Dostoevsky) Probably in this sentence is hinged the ruthless folly that abides the Dostoevsky's characters. In Dostoevsky's books, every character always tries his limit, the limit where he can push his folly. He ruthlessly, desperately, tries the limit of this folly. And above all, if a limit there is, then it is only a groundless abysm where you can be lost without limit. The folly is particularly highlighted by the obsessive excess of exaggeration. Dostoevsky's characters are excessive in everything, every quality they may possess is never restrained. This is the meaning of the paradox, we think. God is the limit, can be the limit on the basis of your free will, to the folly of the world dangerously shifting to a Godless world. The world we are forcibly pushed to, these days. A Godless world for the vile mass, the mass that is neither hot neither cold. Because you are lukew...

Abbiamo ...

The rebellion comes from the dark side of man - Dostoevsky

In Dostoevsky's The Karamazov Brothers, the rebellion of man comes from the inner side, a side unknown to him, which we can call dark because it is not revealed, it has no light, until it comes to light. The best example can be found in the second part of the book, chapter seven. Towards the end of the chapter,  Alyosha tries to give captain Snegiryov 200 rubles on behalf of Katerina Ivanova, the former fiancée of his brother Dmitri who had offended the captain in a public skirmish between him and the captain, that money is meant to repay the captain for the offence. The captain is very needy of that money, it is the supernatural possibility to fulfil many dreams of him and of his family, and he seems about to accept the money but suddenly something inside him, unknown and unexpected even to him happens, the rebellion of an overwhelming sense of self-esteem seizes him in such a way that surprises both, Snegiryov and Alyosha. The captain goes into overdrive and manifests ho...

L'uomo impermanente (parte quinta)
