Crear es tener coraje



Una cosa de la que estoy cada vez más convencido es que el escritor debe abordar el desafío de su creatividad. Ser creativo implica y requiere avanzar en terreno desconocido. ¿Cuántos autores, debemos preguntarnos, tienen el coraje de adentrarse en un campo completamente inexplorado, donde el riesgo de fracaso es muy alto? Al final, crear significa tener el valor de enfrentarse a lo incierto.

¿No sería mucho más fácil entregarse, apoyarse en una moda o tendencia? ¿En una ideología? ¿En algo que no te deje completamente solo? Es parecido a la búsqueda de la verdad, que también requiere coraje. ¿No es mucho más cómodo seguir al rebaño y pensar lo que todos piensan, en lugar de enfrentarse solo a los lobos, dispuestos a despedazarte cuando intentas descubrir la verdad que ellos esconden?

Si queremos crear una literatura sustancial, que aporte algo nuevo, todos los actores del sector literario deben reconocer algo clave: el coraje juega un papel fundamental. Escritores, editoriales, críticos, todos están involucrados en este desafío. Porque ahora tenemos una literatura insustancial, al igual que tenemos una sociedad sin sustancia: una sociedad que se basa en la mediocridad, en la apariencia, sin valores ni contenido.

Vivimos rodeados de estímulos vacíos, donde la rapidez y lo superficial son recompensados. En este contexto, el escritor valiente, que busca profundidad, a menudo es silenciado o ignorado, pues el público y la industria prefieren lo fácil y lo inmediato. Hoy, más que nunca, el coraje es imprescindible.

Y en un sistema editorial donde es difícil publicar con grandes editoriales si no te mantienes alineado con la narrativa dominante, no sorprende que la literatura se vuelva insustancial. Muchos autores optan por lo seguro, evitando descubrir lo que podrían crear si se atrevieran a explorar lo desconocido.
Porque les falta coraje.

My world before and after the so-called Pandemic

  Prior to the so-called pandemic, the world was different. I was different.  One of my greatest moments of pleasure was visiting unknown cities, lost in the unknown, following an unknown flux of life surrounded by unknown streets and people.  I felt invisible.
