Brother Matteo I

Was he senseless? Only God may say that. For sure he was abject, weird, and vicious. In the end, a common character to be met.
He was called “the professor”, although he hardly spent a day of his life in any sort of teaching.
We are talking of Matteo Sartori, quite known in Bergamo before the so-called pandemic, whom after his death is still remembered in that town. He seemed versed in nothing, but he appeared to be devoted to all, instead. He died ingloriously in a hospice in the days of the pandemic. It was said he had passed away because of the virus, but in reality, he had other comorbidities.
Although he had lived like a monk, he had been very capable to look after his worldly affairs. And in fact, after his death, it appeared he had millions of euros in his account.
But without considering the final his life had been pure senselessness.
He was married twice and had no sons.
His first wife belonged to the Bergamo’s ancienne bourgeoisie. Antonella Panerai. She was a beauty, a vigorous intelligent girl. How she could have got married to Matteo, such worthless, puny weakling, none will attempt to explain.
The human being is beyond any capability of understanding. People are, in fact, and mostly, echoes of other people ideas. They are what they recognize to be prepared (by others) to be.
Matteo likely was what he was prepared to be and left an unknown part of himself completely unknowable to himself, which couldn’t be repressed, and sometimes it acted and seized him as what the world and society call irrationality, madness. Folly.
For this basilar principle, Matteo in his life took a path he wouldn’t have taken if he had followed what is called “his nature”
